Page Rank

PageRank was the first algorithm introduced by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, co-founders of Google, which judged how important a web page was by analysing the number and quality of links that led to that page. Its workings were simple: pages with larger inbound links, especially from other such high-quality or authoritative pages, were most likely to be more relevant and trustworthy. Although Google has stopped disclosing information about PageRank score, link equity-the core underlying concept-also holds significance in search engine optimisation. Link equity represents that value transferred from one page to another through hyperlinks. High backlink profile websites with a high number of links from reputable sources are perceived as more authoritative by search engines and rank high because of that power that such authority provides. Although out of date now, the PageRank metric still reflects principles on the importance of backlinks and website authority, which, today, still influence SEO strategies. A strong backlink profile construction is still an important ingredient when it comes to off-page SEO.
