Transport Layer Security (or TLS) is a cryptographic protocol, commonly used for secure communications over a network like the internet. It has evolved from Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and is the one that secures sensitive data while transmission between a user’s browser and a site. As the data are transmitted, it encodes them for unauthorised access and confidentiality. This ensures integrity by determining whether the message was modified during transmission. The User authentication is based on true credentials so that users can be assured of the identity of these websites, thereby doing their part in keeping the minds of these users in talking with the right source. Many examples of the use of TLS include online secure transactions in general, banking online, and email. Websites that are enabled by TS should form the characteristic “https” in the URL, complete with a padlock icon. All these perform enabling the user trust won with the increase of distance in using TLS as well as that of the security of cut pieces of sensitive information, such as credit card numbers and passwords along with more personal details. TLS thus becomes obligatory for all types of online security needs, which every business site has under its charge for the processing of sensitive user data.
