Coercing Google’s search algorithm into manipulating the pages was called Google Bombing-a tactic used as much more than among the people to stampede an influx with identical anchor text links to have that page hurl to the top of search results for certain keywords, with no regard for that page’s relevance. This would be awkwardly implemented with tips of political manoeuvring or with other ludicrous means, but, sometimes, for the evils in this world, it may have been set to defame and misinform. Google has since taken certain measures to put a stop to the damage from such bombs, thus greatly reducing their effect. Nevertheless, it remains a telling artefact of how search engine algorithms are subject to manipulation and how difficult it is to maintain equality in search results.
